Girls run the world! Hmmm...TRUE or FALSE?

One of the reasons I love summertime is because of the new songs that drop for the season. When you hear a hot track, it makes you feel like getting your "two-step" on! OK, maybe I'm dating myself here, lol, but you get the message, right? Cars rolling by with the windows down and the bass on your favorite song is making you hype! You go to the club, or a houseparty and enjoy the vibe. But, if the music is dead, then so is the party. Good music is definitely part of the social scene, and necessary to summer socializing.

So, I'm sure most of you have heard Beyonce's new single "Run The World (Girls)". I think it's fair to say that the majority of folks who've heard the song believe it's going to be one of those summertime hits. I personally like it, and felt that it could be somewhat empowering. My view on this song was recently challenged when it was suggested I view a YouTube Video that defied Bey's notion that girls run the world. This young woman discusses her view of how women are seen and placed in our society. Check it out here...Beyonce-Run The World (LIES).

   

Whether or not you like Bey's song, you have to admit this young woman brings up some very good points.

As you party to the latest hot tracks this summer, ladies think about the message you're sending and fellas think about the vibe you're receiving AND EXPECTING. As young adults it is your right to have fun, but it is also your responsibility to be conscious about the image you're putting out there. Enjoy your summer!!!
